It was almost 20 years ago when I found Sahaja Yoga, or should I say, when Sahaja Yoga found me. My then boyfriend (now my husband) found a small advertisement in the Cincinnati City Beat magazine. It was about a free meditation. I know now that the advertisement was for me. I learned a few things about meditation while I finished up my last semester at Xavier University. Then I headed up to Chicago for grad school.

The first year in Chicago were the hardest times of my life. During the move I forgot briefly about meditation. The city was vast, cold and unkind. I was in a state of confusion. I was utterly lost and depressed. I didn't know what to make of life. I felt like I had no meaning or purpose. I didn't know myself and, without understanding it at the time, this gave me a feeling of existential dread that filled my entire being.

It was in the springtime that I remembered to reach out to some contacts and I restarted my journey in Sahaja Yoga.

I appreciate the difficulties I experienced as it has made me the therapist I am today.
